SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability through durable engineering, material selection and responsible manufacturing

RESPONSIBILITY

RESOURCES

Sustainability in exhibition construction and shopfitting begins with engineering. IMA follows a technical approach in which components are developed and manufactured to be repairable, adaptable and reusable across multiple project cycles.

The goal is to reduce material consumption, transport effort and waste. From the outset, constructions are designed for repeated use and long service life.

Company processes are regularly reviewed and adjusted with regard to resource efficiency.

MATERIALS

SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY AND RECYCLING

IMA is certified by GFA Certification GmbH under FSC-STD-40-004 (Version 3.1) and uses certified wood from sustainable forestry.

Surface coatings are implemented with low-solvent systems wherever possible, with water-based lacquers used in the majority of applications.

IMA also relies on reusable click laminates and loose-lay vinyl and carpet tiles that can be used for up to ten years in exhibition construction. Plastic mesh tiles made from recycled polyethylene are also used.

Durable materials are used throughout production to support long-term use. Graphic banners are stored per customer and reused for recurring projects. Material offcuts are collected separately and channelled into recycling or suitable reuse processes. Wood waste is used for thermal energy recovery.

SURFACES

POWDER COATING

Powder coating is carried out in a 720 m² facility at the company’s headquarters and is implemented without solvents. The resulting surfaces are impact-resistant, scratch-resistant and designed for long-term durability. This reduces unnecessary transport routes and associated emissions.

Metal components can be coated and further processed directly within the production workflow. Compared to conventional wet coating systems, this extends the service life of components while reducing material consumption and waste generation.

Additional material use and transport processes are therefore reduced.

MANUFACTURING

REGIONAL PRODUCTION

Planning, engineering and manufacturing are carried out at the company’s headquarters in Aßlar, Germany. Woodworking, metalworking and surface processing are combined within one integrated production environment.

Centralised production reduces transport routes, simplifies coordination processes and accelerates production workflows. In addition, IMA works with regional partners to shorten supply chains.

TRANSPARENCY

Material use and sourcing processes are documented transparently. Wooden components are reused wherever technically suitable, while metal components can be returned to the recycling cycle.

As a member of fwd: Bundesvereinigung Veranstaltungswirtschaft e. V., IMA is certified by the FAMAB Stiftung as a "Sustainable Company" and committed to the industry’s sustainability standards.

ENERGY

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

IMA continuously invests in energy-efficient machinery and modern production technology. Photovoltaic systems are used at the production site in Aßlar, Germany, to generate electricity for in-house use.

This reduces energy consumption and CO₂ emissions within the production process.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

SOCIETY

Sustainability includes not only environmental but also social responsibility. IMA maintains a respectful and fair approach towards employees, clients, suppliers and business partners.

Safe working conditions in production and installation are a high priority. Occupational health and safety regulations are consistently implemented and regularly reviewed.

IMA trains young professionals and invests in the professional development of its employees. This ensures that expertise and responsibility are secured for the long term.

EDUCATION

DUAL PARTNERSHIP

IMA works as a dual education partner together with Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). The partnership combines academic education with practical training within the company.

Students are integrated into operational workflows and gain practical experience within the direct working environment. At the same time, current academic expertise contributes to day-to-day business practice.

The collaboration supports the long-term development of qualified professionals and strengthens the continuous transfer of knowledge between university and company.
